The SC Municipal Insurance Trust has offered the SCMIT Fire Service Grant since 2008. Since its creation, the grant has reimbursed more than $1 million for the equipment purchases of more than 80 SCMIT members.
SCMIT members may apply for reimbursement of up to 50% of the cost of the equipment purchased, not to exceed a maximum benefit of $2,000 per member per year. SCMIT has allocated $100,000 for the grant in 2022, and the funds will be available on a first-come, first-served basis until depleted.
Products and equipment considered for reimbursement include:

- respirator fit-testing equipment;

Grant applications can be submitted online. The grant process will open on February 16, 2022.
