Director of Facilities, City of West Columbia
Develop and implement preventative maintenance programs for all building systems (HVAC, electrical, plumbing, fire suppression, etc.) Executes preventive maintenance tasks such as equipment calibration, lubrication, parts replacement and systems testing at all assigned facilities. Inspects and performs maintenance on assigned equipment and facilities, ensuring assigned building facilities adhere to proper safety standards and cleaning procedures.
Documents and records maintenance and repair activities, including inspections, repairs and preventive tasks performed both by City personnel and contractors, at non-utility related facilities. Prepares and presents reports on facilities to management.
Troubleshoots malfunctioning equipment, machinery and building systems, uses diagnostic tools to identify issues with physical assets and building systems, at all facilities as assigned. Including, but not limited to: HVAC, elevator, electrical, plumbing, ADA public access, roofing leaks, fire alarm panels, door closer, door locks/key issues, exterior light timers, water fountains, and building generators. Certified Facility Manager (CFM) credential, Bachelor’s degree in Facilities Management, Engineering, Construction Management, or equivalent; plus five or more years of experience in planning and maintaining facilities to include budgets, two of which should have been in a supervisory capacity; strong knowledge of building systems (HVAC, electrical, plumbing, fire suppression, etc.), familiarity with building codes, safety regulations and ADA requirements, must possess excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Experience in professional leadership, experience in contract handling, proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or related software, or any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities.
Must possess a valid South Carolina Driver’s License.
