Benefits Administrator, City of Greenville
Under broad parameters defined by the Chief Human Resources Officer and in accordance with general organizational requirements and accepted practices, manages the daily operation and administration of all City employee benefit plans including, but not limited to, health, dental, and life insurance programs, disability, medical and dependent daycare flexible spending accounts (FSA), retirement plans, and cancer plans. Works with the Chief Human Resources Officer and benefits broker consultants in the evaluation and analysis of existing programs, proposed enhancements, or modifications to existing programs as well as new programs to maintain a competitive benefits program.
Ensures all employee benefits are administered in compliance with applicable regulations and policies. Maintains compliance and regulatory reporting schedules. Monitors benefit trends and stays abreast of applicable benefits legislation and recommends related policy and or procedural changes. Oversees and facilitates bi-weekly employee benefit enrollment and annual Open Enrollment sessions. Develops and produces a wide range of benefit communications, including benefit guides and policies.
Ensures the accuracy of and maintenance of all employee benefit elections, files, and timely processing, reconciliation and balancing on the billings for group health, life insurances, flexible spending, cancer insurance, and other forms of billing that may fall within the scope of insurance/benefits. Addresses benefits concerns by counseling and assisting employees, retirees, and their dependents with questions, resolving claims, and completing forms/applications.

Job Requirements: Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in human resource management, business, or a related field. Over four years of experience in benefits administration. Driver's License Requirements: Valid South Carolina Class D Driver's License.
Preferred Qualifications Experience in a municipal setting. Professional certification in employee benefits, e.g., Certified Employee Benefits Specialist (CEBS) or Certified Benefits Professional (CBP) by WorldatWork designation strongly preferred, or other Human Resources/Benefits certification.
