Job Duties

Under direct supervision of the Instrumentation Supervisor, this associate performs work involving semi-skilled duties in the electrical/electronic and instrumentation fields. Duties include knowledge of preventive, predictive and corrective maintenance of plant monitoring equipment, electrical systems and components; performs calibrations of equipment.

Perform semi-skilled and skilled duties to include electrical fundamentals, schematic symbols, analytical monitoring and maintenance, automated controls, electrical monitoring, general instrumentation application, PLC's, SCADA systems, electrical motors, motor control centers, motor drives, electrical circuits and components, lighting systems, and emergency power systems. Performs system level / component level diagnostics and corrective maintenance of inoperative equipment. Includes equipment removal, repair, reinstallation and system loop certification.

Prepares documentation and keeps records. Maintains equipment data files. Prepares requisitions for procurement of parts, equipment, or services. May be required to fabricate electronic circuitry and control loops. Operate boom truck, backhoe, or other heavy equipment as required. May be required to attend intra/interdepartmental cross training. Subject to "on-call" work rotation.

Qualifications

Associates Degree in Electronics/Electrical or equivalent coursework in Electronics/Electrical or a combination of related education and work experience to total three years. High school diploma or GED required. Familiar with CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management System). Desirable software training in Human Machine Interface (HMI) systems, Distributed Control Unit experience, and public utility water/wastewater instrumentation experience. Extensive computer skills with windows based word processing and spreadsheet software (prefer Word and Excel).

INSTRUMENTATION & ELECTRICAL TECHNICIAN I Salary Range: $52,353.60 ($25.17/hr) – $81,140.80 ($39.01/hr) The candidate demonstrating the following abilities may be placed at a Grade 108: Associates Degree in Electronics/Electrical or equivalent coursework in Electronics/Electrical or a combination of related education and work experience to total three years. High school diploma or GED required. Ability to use electrical and mechanical schematics, blueprints and technical manuals.

INSTRUMENTATION & ELECTRICAL TECHNICIAN II Salary Range: $64,500.80 ($31.01/hr) - $99,964.00 ($48.06/hr) The candidate demonstrating the following abilities may be placed at a Grade 110: Associates Degree in Electronics or related technology and three (3) years’ experience in the instrumentation / HMI systems area with extensive knowledge of principles, methods, standards, tools and electronic / electrical test equipment or education/experience to equal 5 years. High school diploma or GED required. Ability to read and understand complex electrical, electronic, and mechanical schematics
