GIS Analyst, Town of Fort Mill
Data Management: Collect, process, and maintain spatial data using GIS software. Ensure the accuracy and integrity of GIS datasets. Spatial Analysis: Perform advanced spatial analysis and geoprocessing to support town planning, zoning, land use, and other municipal functions. Mapping and Visualization: Create high-quality maps, visualizations, and dashboards for internal use and public-facing applications.
GIS Solutions Development: Design and implement GIS tools, applications, and models to automate workflows and enhance data accessibility. Collaboration: Work closely with town departments, including planning, public works, and utilities, to understand their GIS needs and deliver tailored solutions. Project Management: Lead and manage GIS-related projects, including data migration, system upgrades, and integration of new technologies.
User Support: Provide technical support and training to town staff and other stakeholders on GIS applications and tools. Quality Assurance: Regularly review and update spatial data, ensuring compliance with town, state, and federal standards. Data Sharing and Integration: Facilitate data sharing between town departments and external agencies while ensuring data security and privacy. Performs related duties.
Knowledge and level of competency commonly associated with completion of a bachelor’s degree in Geography, GIS, Urban Planning, Computer Science, or a related field. Master’s degree is a plus.
Three to five years of experience in Geographic Information Systems (GIS) and a strong background in data analysis, spatial data management, and cartographic design. Or any equivalent combination of education and experience which provides required knowledge, skills, and abilities
Sufficient experience to thoroughly understand the diverse objectives and functions relevant to the major duties of the position, usually interpreted to require three to five years of experience working in GIS in a municipal, government, or similar environment.
