Job Duties

Reviews proposed development plans for compliance with the City’s regulations and policies related to water, sewer, stormwater and roadway infrastructure.

Serves as a Certified Floodplain Manager for the City, working with the City’s Building Official to maintain compliance with federal and state standards regarding floodplain management. Assists in investigating and resolving citizen complaints, project conflicts, and existing deficiencies in the area of stormwater management.

Serves in leadership role for infrastructure plan reviewers. Although not responsible for direct supervision, trains new reviews and provides them with ongoing support.

Qualifications

Requires a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering, floodplain management, or related field.

Requires at least five years of experience in para-professional civil engineering with a focus on the drafting or review of civil plans including components related to water, sewer, stormwater and roadways.

The following are preferred at the time of hire. If the candidate does not have one or more of these certifications at the time of hire, he/she must obtain the certification within one year of hire. CEPSCI (South Carolina Certified Erosion Prevention and Sediment Control Inspector). CSPR (Certified Stormwater Plan Reviewer). Certified Floodplain Manager (CFM).
