Job Duties

Serves as evidence custodian for the Department, assists in the transport of evidence to other agencies, court, etc., and destroying evidence as appropriate. Receives confiscated drug money and deposits same into special bank account. Verifies information from evidence sheets in the computer.

Maintains chain of custody, logs evidence in and out before and after court, works closely with law enforcement. Testifies in court as needed.

Receives, reviews, processes, files and/or submits a variety of other documents and reports such as supplemental reports, expungement orders, court orders, incident reports, etc.

Qualifications

Requires a high school diploma or GED equivalent, must type 30 corrected wpm, supplemented by two years relevant prior experience desired or any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required skills, knowledge, and abilities.

Must possess a valid SC driver’s license.

Must be able to pass a criminal background check and pre-employment drug screen.

Pay Info
Salary range $42,739.87 - $59,836.90, with excellent benefits package including 13 holidays and participation in the State Retirement System, the SC Deferred Compensation Plan, and the State Health Plan with the employee’s health and dental insurance premiums paid by the city.
