Job Duties

Direct, supervise and manage activities of the engineering inspectors. Manages and oversees the Annual Maintenance Contract, Annual MH Lining Contract, and Annual CIPP Contract. Coordinates and provides updates to the Engineering Director as needed. Assist Engineering Director with preparing and managing the annual contracts budgets. Ensures all engineering projects, initiatives, and processes are in conformance with organization's established policies and objectives. Enforces and assists in updating Metro’s Sanitary Sewer Standards and Procedures Manual.

Conducts pre-construction conference meeting, periodic inspection, testing, and final inspection for Metro and developer projects. Reviews submittal information (shop drawings, construction drawings, and as-built/record drawings). Tracks and enters project data into Cityworks. Performs quality control of engineering inspector’s reports. Review’s construction plans and specifications. Provides periodic inspection to ensure compliance with specifications. Observes testing performed by consulting engineer and contractor. Coordinates with other utilities.

Assist in preparation and receipt of encroachment permits. Assists staff in miscellaneous operations and maintenance, or engineering issues. Provides assistance and guidance to general public. Performs routine office duties to include mailing letters, making copies, sending facsimile transmittals, preparing and forwarding correspondence, and scheduling inspections. Attends meetings and workshops and reads technical literature to keep current on related issues. Assists other departments as needed. Performs other related duties as required.

Qualifications

Associate degree in civil engineering, Construction Technology or related field with ten years of experience. Greater than four years of experience in a management position with direct exposure to utility/civil engineering in a wastewater system operation. NASSCO Certification in PACP, LACP, and MACP. Must possess a valid South Carolina driver’s license. Strong verbal and written communication skills. Excellent attention to detail and sense of urgency, ability to prioritize with an emphasis on quality and accuracy of work.

Strong interpersonal, supervisory, and customer service skills required. Exceptional analytical and problem solving abilities. Ability to work and interact with departments throughout the organization.

Strong working knowledge of AutoCAD, GIS, Cityworks, inflow & infiltration, and construction administration. Wastewater Operator’s License

Pay Info
Salary Range: $80,000 - $100,00. Salary is negotiable based on experience. Metro offers a competitive benefits package including SC Retirement and comprehensive health, dental and vision insurance. No relocation assistance is provided. A background check and drug screening is a condition of employment.
