Job Duties

This is a full-time position and is responsible for issuing city permits such as building, plumbing, electrical and HVAC; Talks with customers by phone and in person; calculates fee amounts, collects money, balances cash drawer, makes deposits with Finance; answers telephone and routes calls; logs in plans and prepares them to be reviewed; answers questions about permit and inspection procedures.

Position interacts with contractors, owners and trades people daily; critical position providing first impression of the City of Spartanburg. This is a one stop shop for permits and business licenses.

Qualifications

Requirements include: high school diploma, SC Driver’s License and two years’ experience in customer service, permitting or related field; excellent customer service and cash transactions skills; experience with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook. Experience with cash receipts software is preferred. Bi-lingual - i.e. Spanish and English, is a plus.

Pay Info
Pay depends on experience. Minimum starting salary is $39,332.80 (or higher) depending on experience.
