Job Duties

This job of was established for the purpose/s of providing support to the instructional program with specific responsibilities for providing prevention and intervention services to the youth for the City of Lake City in coordination with state laws, family court, youth services, juvenile probation, pardon and parole, youth advocacy, school district and local law enforcement agencies; providing in-service training to city administrator, mayor, elected officials, law enforcement, parents, students, and community organizations; and intervenes with identified at-risk youth and their families.

This job reports to the chief of police. This position is a class III law enforcement officer position.

Qualifications

Experience: Two years of supervisory experience working with youth in the area of violence prevention in education, law enforcement, counseling, or related setting. Experience must include counseling or intervening with “at risk” youth, presenting workshops, and or training sessions in topics such as violence prevention, mediation, and gang violence suppression.

Education: Bachelor’s Degree or higher from a nationally approved accredited college or university, in one of the following areas: criminal justice, police science, social science, or a related field.
