Job Duties

Reviews plans for residential construction and alterations to ensure compliance with all relevant building codes.

Prepares and submits plan review reports; Explains, interprets and provides guidance regarding applicable codes and compliance requirements to contractors, engineers, architects, developers, property owners and others.

Schedules and inspects new construction, alterations and repairs of residential and other structures to ensure structural safety and compliance with building codes.

Qualifications

High school diploma or GED.

Three years of relevant prior experience.

Certified or be able to be certified within one year of hire or promotion by the S.C. Building Codes Council as a Residential Plans Examiner (Residential (R1) and within two years of hire or promotion complete all four areas for Residential Building Inspector Building (B1), Plumbing (P1), Mechanical (M1) and Electrical (E1)). Must be registered with State LLR and/or International Codes Council (ICC) within 30 days from date of hire or promotion.

Pay Info
$53,449 annually
