Curt Campbell
Nominated by Downtown Orangeburg Revitalization Association
Curt Campbell is the type of volunteer all organizations hope to have. The Downtown Orangeburg Revitalization Association has counted on him for whatever is needed, whether in an organizational capacity or for sheer physical labor.
For the annual Taste of Orangeburg, he shows up before daylight to set the stage and stays until the last tent is taken down at the end of the day. He served two consecutive three-year terms on the DORA board of directors, holding the offices of both vice president and president.
Campbell's volunteer resum" extends beyond DORA. He plays an active role with the local historical society, Habitat for Humanity, Rotary Club, Adopt-a-Highway, his church and a local school's football team.
In 2010, he received the Austin Cunningham Award for community service from the Orangeburg County Community of Character. Curt Campbell is one of those rare individuals who does not wait to be asked, but volunteers his services willingly.
