Who is eligible to receive the MBL designation?

Any business licensing official that has attained the ABL designation is eligible to apply for the MBL designation.

Can I count my attendance at the Training Institute toward my experience points?

No. Your attendance at the Training Institute is used towards earning your Accreditation in Business Licensing. Once you have taken the three Training Institute classes, you can begin attending the Advanced Academy. Your attendance at the Advanced Academy is used toward your experience points.

Do I need to be recertified?

Once you receive your MBL, you will need to recertify every three years. The recertification is based on 30 experience points. Because of the COVID-19 pandemic, the recertification deadline has been extended to December 31, 2023. If you earned your MBL before December 31, 2020, you have until December 31, 2023 to recertify.

How far back can I go when applying points toward an MBL?

You may go back the previous seven years when you apply for the MBL designation. If you have your MBL and are seeking recertification, then you may use the three previous years when you apply for recertification.
