Water Plant Electrician/Maintenance Mechanic, City of Westminster
Troubleshoot, repair and perform preventative maintenance on pumps, motors, actuators and various control valves. Observes variations in operating conditions and interprets meter and gauge readings. Operates, calibrates, transports, and performs basic equipment maintenance. Performs operational checks on treatment plant and records information on operating records and logs. Performs basic electrical functions including resetting and / or restarting equipment, testing, and changing fuses.
Electrical, instrumentation, fields systems and components. Operation of diesel generator/emergency power. Cleans out sludge basins based on maintenance schedule. Installation of instrumentation, SCADA, telemetry, variable frequency drives, and wiring of panels a plus. Instrumentation calibrations; diagnostics and troubleshooting with test equipment.
Plan, layout, and install conduit and wiring from simple circuit to complex control panels. Familiarity with NEC, NFPA 70E, Arc Flash regulations, CPR, and Confined Space are a plus. Use electrical and mechanical schematics, blueprints, and technical manuals. Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on all mechanical/electrical equipment and system components including but not limited to pumps, valves, piping and gauges.Operate overhead crane, hand and power tools.
Graduation from High School or G.E.D. equivalent. Knowledge and Skills: Basic knowledge of hand tools. Ability to perform heavy manual work for extended periods of time and in adverse weather conditions. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with supervisors, fellow employees, and the public. Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing. Ability to understand and carry out written and oral instructions.
