Planner I (Design Review Board) , City of Aiken
Staff support for the Design Review Board to include agenda preparation, public notice, compilation and review of applications, acts as liaison between applicant and Board, and provides administrative and technical expertise in review of applications and interpretation of City codes, ordinances, and plans.
Supports Planning Director and Planning and Zoning Manager in their contacts with the general public on issues such as zoning and other land use regulations; guide public through the various approval processes; review and approve business license applications.
Proposes amendments to Zoning Ordinance and Historic Preservation procedures and ordinances as necessary.
A bachelor’s degree in planning, Landscape Architecture, Historic Preservation, Public Administration, Business Administration, Geography or related field; Master’s degree preferred.
This is an entry level position, so zero to three years of relevant government planning experience or any equivalent combination of education and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities is required.
American Institute of Certified Planners certification (Desired or ability to obtain within reasonable timeframe).
