Job Duties

The purpose of this classification is to perform construction, repair and maintenance of electric power transmission and distribution systems. Incumbents in this classification have at least completed Lineworker II training modules, can independently complete routine work functions, continue training to learn pre-defined aspects of line work, and assist experienced Lineworkers with more technical aspects of work.

Attends and completes training sessions as required to gain skills and knowledge regarding division operations, technical job functions, and policies, procedures, rules and regulations. Determines materials and equipment required to complete assigned tasks. Assists with the installation, maintenance and repair of electric power transmission and distribution systems. Participates in and assists with installing, restoring, and repairing electric services and systems. Assists with installing and maintaining house services, yard and streetlights, etc.

Performs manual labor associated with construction, maintenance and repair of primary power transmission and distribution systems. Adheres to established safety procedures. Operates a personal computer and other electronic devices. Utilizes maintenance, work order, or department-specific software. Operates or uses various equipment, power tools, hand tools, and supplies. May be required to work after normal business hours, weekends, holidays, Standby Duty or be called out as needed.

Qualifications

High School Diploma or GED required; supplemented by three years of experience in electric system installation, maintenance and repair of overhead/underground electric distribution lines (nominal voltages of 4800 volt and above); or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this job. Must reside within a radius of Orangeburg, SC that allows for a 30-minute maximum response to call outs and emergencies.

Must possess and maintain a valid South Carolina Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) including appropriate endorsement(s), a valid First Aid/CPR certificate, and be climber certified. Must have completed required Lineworker associated training modules.

Pay Info
$21.92 / hour - $37.17 / hour
