Human Resources Director, James Island Public Service District
The James Island Public Service District (JIPSD) is seeking a Director of Human Resources. The JIPSD is a special purpose district of approximately eighty (80) employees, providing high quality fire, solid waste, and wastewater services. This position oversees all HR-related functions of the district, supervises the HR Coordinator, and reports to the District Manager.
Essential functions include ensuring all state and federal laws and regulations, as well as JIPSD policies and procedures, are adhered to; maintaining a fair and equitable work environment; overseeing all recruitment and retention efforts; management of personnel as it relates to hiring, training, supervision, recognition, counseling, and discipline; developing and maintaining the HR departmental budget; championing JIPSD’s Emergency Operations Plan and Safety Program; engaging in strategic planning efforts and special projects as assigned.
A bachelor’s degree in human resources, business administration, or related field plus seven years of progressively responsible leadership experience in Human Resources is required. PHR/SPHR certification preferred.
