Fire Chief, City of Walhalla
Performs supervisory, administrative, technical and professional work in planning, organizing, directing, and leading the Fire Department, including fire prevention, suppression and emergency medical services to prevent or minimize the loss of life and property by fire rescue. The Fire Chief is responsible for quality customer service, short- and long-term planning, operation and maintenance of fire and emergency response equipment, effectively managing capital projects and managing the fire department budget.
(A) Graduation from high school or G.E.D. equivalency, with additional training in fire services, public administration or similar field; and (B) Minimum of seven years of experience in fire or emergency service work, with three years at the equivalent of fire captain or higher; (C) Completion of the Fire Basic Training Academy or equivalent; (D) Any equivalent combination of education and experience.
