Electrical Lineman - Class A, City of Seneca
GENERAL PURPOSE: Perform skilled line work for overhead and underground electrical distribution systems, using specialized equipment and vehicles. Report to the Electrical Superintendent and may lead a crew.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES: Plan and initiate projects, ensuring safety compliance and crew coordination. Notify customers of service disruptions. Install, repair, and maintain poles, wires, transformers, and electrical systems. Perform underground electrical installations and troubleshooting. Maintain and repair streetlights and outdoor lighting. Assemble substations and maintain high-voltage equipment. Perform live line work and ensure minimal power outages. Operate trucks and specialized equipment like bucket trucks and trenchers.
Provide temporary power to contractors and install customer electrical services. Lead and train crew members, maintain safety standards, and keep records. PERIPHERAL DUTIES: Ensure equipment functionality. Address customer complaints. Perform other related tasks as assigned.
High school diploma or GED with 5 years of electrical or construction experience, or equivalent. Knowledge of electrical distribution systems, safety practices, and linework procedures. Ability to interpret diagrams, apply electrical theory, and perform first aid.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: Valid State Driver’s License with CDL endorsement. Class A Lineworker’s certification. First Aid, CPR, and Pole Top Rescue certifications.
