7 a.m. to 4 p.m., Monday through Friday, with some work on weekends as needed
Job Duties

Oversee daily operations of the Public Works Depart, including street, sanitation, parks, water and wastewater services, and facility maintenance. Lead and supervise a diverse team of public work employees, fostering a positive and productive work environment. Develop and implement policies, procedures, and programs to enhance departmental efficiency and effectiveness. Prepare and manage the department's annual budget, ensuring cost-effective use of resources. Plan and coordinate public works projects, including road maintenance, infrastructure upgrades, and capital improvement projects.

Collaborate with other town departments, government agencies, and contractors to ensure successful project completion.

Respond to public inquiries, concerns, and complaints regarding public works services and operations. Attend town meetings and represent the Public Works Department at community events and public forums. Communicate effectively with residents, businesses, and other stakeholders to address and resolve issues. Ensure all public works activities comply with local, state, and federal regulations. Prepare and submit reports and documentation to regulatory agencies.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Public Administration, or a related field. A Master's degree is preferred. Minimum of 5 years of progressively responsible experience in public works or municipal services, including supervisory experience.

Strong leadership and management skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate a team. Excellent problem-solving abilities and decision-making skills. Proficient in budgeting, financial management, and project planning. Effective communication skills, both verbal and written. Knowledge of modern public works practices, methods, and equipment.

Ability to perform physical tasks related to public works projects and inspections. Capability to work in various environmental conditions, including outdoor settings.
