Job Duties

Under limited supervision, assists in the management of the Stormwater Department, performing such functions as related to the, design, and construction of drainage improvement projects including preparing specifications and construction documents as necessary utilizing sound engineering practices.

Enforces County ordinances related to stormwater management, sediment and erosion control and land disturbance activities.

Reports to the Stormwater Manager.

Qualifications

Requires minimum of Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or other related field supplemented by six to nine years of experience in Public Works, Stormwater or civil construction related work experience, with a minimum of five years in a management capacity or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.

Must possess a registered license from South Carolina in Professional Engineering or have the ability to obtain such license within one year of hire date.

Manages the daily operation of the Stormwater Department. Coordinates the activities of personnel in the department, ensures compliance with policy and procedures and promoting effective operations, performing such supervisory duties as assigning, reviewing, and planning work of others; maintaining standards, coordinating activities; and allocating personnel. Meet with staff to identify and resolve problems.
