Job Duties

Reviews storm water management plans; evaluates plans for compliance with established City codes and ordinances; determines water and sewer impact fees and other charges; Reviews complex residential and commercial building site development plans for compliance with City codes, Division requirements, and City objectives; approves preconstruction plans. Reviews City construction projects for good engineering and cost effectiveness; advises on capital improvement projects and reports.

Provides information and technical assistance concerning code requirements; discusses problem areas with property owners and contractors; makes safety suggestions and recommends solutions to problems; responds to questions or complaints concerning building codes or code violations. Attends and participates in numerous City meetings with consulting engineers on public and private projects; consults with other divisions about engineering and operational problem. Maintains records of all work activities; files reports, building plans, and other relevant documents in proper location.

Receives various forms, reports, correspondence, construction plans, storm water reports, specifications, contract documents, subdivision plats, ordinances, code books, maps, manuals, reference materials, or other documentation; reviews, completes, processes, forwards or retains as appropriate. Communicates with City officials and employees, contractors, architects, engineers, the public, outside agencies, and other individuals as needed to coordinate work activities, review status of work, exchange information, resolve problems, or give/receive advice/direction.

Qualifications

Associate degree in civil engineering or closely related field; five (5) years of experience in preparing or reviewing civil site plans, storm water reports, and water and sewer systems; Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license.
