Building Standards Inspector, City of North Augusta
Performs plan review and inspection of residential and commercial construction to ensure compliance with applicable building codes and related ordinances.
Performs on site building inspections for compliance with submitted documents and adopted codes. Reviews building plans, documents, and calculations for code compliance. Maintains certifications and knowledge necessary to perform essential job functions by obtaining Continuing in Education Units either in house or at other approved locations. Refers to adopted building codes, calculations, technical manuals, permit records and daily inspection logs.
Requires a Technical College diploma in a job related field, supplemented by five years of experience in field inspection and plan review, or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities. Must possess a valid state driver’s license. Must be certified as a Commercial Building, Electrical, Plumbing and Mechanical Inspector by International Code Council.
