Building Official, City of Rock Hill
Supervises staff in inspections division regarding plan review and the inspection of construction projects to ensure compliance with federal, state and local laws, codes and regulations.
Serves as the City's Floodplain coordinator, administering the Flood Damage Prevention Ordinance, which regulates and ensures safe development and construction within the floodplain.
Works with new small businesses finding code solutions in existing buildings.
Requires an Associate’s Degree or specialized courses/training equivalent to satisfactory completion of two years of college in construction management, architecture, engineering or related field.
Requires six years in construction trades, architecture, engineering, field inspection and plan review or closely related experience. At least two years of direct supervisory experience preferred. At least two years of floodplain management experience, including with elevation certificates and the Community Rating System, preferred.
ICC Certified Building Official certification preferred at the time of hire. If candidate does not have that certification at the time of hire, he/she must be certified as a commercial inspector in South Carolina or a state with reciprocity with South Carolina at the time of hire and must obtain the ICC Certified Building Official certification within three months of hire. Certified Floodplain Manager (CFM) certification preferred at the time of hire. If candidate does not have that certification at the time of hire, he/she must obtain it within one year of hire.
