Battalion Chief, City of Conway
This Battalion Chief position is responsible for Training. This position performs technical and administrative work, coordinates and implements an effective fire service training program to help ensure the life safety of all fire personnel and meet OSHA and other fire and city training requirements. This position promotes fire prevention in the community, responds to fire, emergency medical, rescue and other emergencies.
This position works within a general outline of work to be performed and develops work methods and sequences and reports to the Division Chief. Supervision may be exercised.
Minimum Training and Experience: Associate Degree in Fire Service Management or Fire Science; at least five years of related work experience; and at least three years of professional experience in a supervisory capacity of Fire Lieutenant, or higher; or any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities.
Special Qualifications: High school diploma or GED; must possess a valid Class “D” Driver’s license, or equivalent; successful completion of annual physical agility testing and medical examination. The following certifications, or their equivalent, are required: IFSAC or ProBoard Firefighter I and II; IFSAC or ProBoard Fire Officer I; IFSAC or ProBoard Fire Instructor I; Active South Carolina Fire Academy Instructor; NIMS 100, 200, 300, 400, 700 and 800.
The following certifications are preferred: IFSAC or ProBoard Fire Officer II; IFSAC or ProBoard Fire Instructor II.
