Automotive Technician II, City of Greenwood
Under direct supervision, this position is responsible for repairing and maintaining various City vehicles and small equipment. Performs related tasks such as performing S.C. inspection procedures and preparing work orders.
Also this position is responsible for repairing and maintaining various gasoline and diesel-powered equipment and other light-heavy duty vehicles. Performs related tasks such as road service calls, picking up parts, and preparing work orders. Reports to the Fleet Maintenance Superintendent.
Performs repairs and general maintenance on City gasoline and diesel-powered vehicles and equipment, including police cars, passenger cars, fire trucks, utility service trucks, dump trucks, heavy-duty trucks, trenchers, jet machines, tractors, boring machines, generators, trailers, lawn mowers, and chain saws. Performs services on all vehicle component systems, including engines, emission control systems, fuel systems, ignition systems, starters, alternators, brake systems, hydraulic systems, transmissions, clutches, exhaust systems, etc. Replaces tries as needed.
Performs preventative maintenance and servicing duties such as changing oil and fluids, changing various filters, greasing, rotating tires, cleaning, and other routine tasks. Installs light bars for patrol cars. Responds to service calls and provides wrecker service. Performs SC inspection procedures.
Receives, reviews, processes/submits documents and reports, including billing invoices, work orders, gas tickets, SC inspection forms, and gas reports. Utilizes and maintains equipment and tools in performing tasks such as mechanic's tools, engine diagnostic equipment, power tools, electric welder, pressure washer, and various mechanic's supplies and replacement parts.
