Why on-demand training?
The Municipal Association began offering on-demand training in response to members' request for more opportunities to receive training.
What types of courses are available?
Several on-demand courses are available for all members of the Association and the public to view.
Currently available
- "The Five Basics of Effective Governing" (free)
- Five municipal elected officials courses ($35/each)
- Municipal clerk on-demand courses (free)
What should I expect?
Online courses begin with course objectives and instructions for navigating through the course. Throughout, participants can check their knowledge of the materials. There is a short survey or quiz at the end of each course.
How much time will it take to complete?
The length of time to complete the on-demand courses varies. The courses that are free-of-charge should take no more than 30 minutes to complete. The elected officials courses should take between one to two hours to complete.
Are additional materials provided to supplement the on-demand course?
Links to reference materials are offered throughout the course. The materials supplement what is discussed in the course.
Will I receive a certificate of completion for each course I take?
A certificate of completion is not given for the free on-demand courses. These courses are meant to only give basic information about the specified topic.
Though any municipal staff or official may take the courses offered with the on-demand elected officials' training, only mayors and councilmembers will receive credit for completing the courses.
